The average standard are 3-star hotels, however, on the Luxuria Signature range we have selected 4-star & 5-star hotels located centrally.

    Our partner, Leger Holidays, have custom built and operate their own vehicles with 2 staff on board every coach. There are 3 standards;
  1. Executive– a maximum of 50 seats
  2. Silver Service – a maximum of 40 seats
  3. Luxuria – a maximum of 31 seats

All coaches are equipped with air conditioning, on board toilet and reclining seats with a range of hot and cold drinks available for sale.

Silver Service has a spacious rear lounge to socialise and relax, porterage at most hotels, extra leg room and free personal headphone supplied.

Luxuria is the equivalent of a business class airplane seat. There are 3 seats in a 2/1 formation, with fully interactive touch screen TV, USB charge points, UK plug sockets and calf rests as well as the extra leg room, porterage at most hotels and personal headphones.

Apart from the superior vehicle quality as mentioned above, we have over 200 itineraries with many of the excursions, visits and meals included.

With a wide selection of European escorted tours, short breaks, Battlefield tours, Christmas/winter breaks and Single Traveller holidays, there are itineraries suited for first time visitors to those who prefer diving deeper into specialised regions.

Throughout the entirety of your time with us, you will be fully escorted by experienced members of the team. With the insight of our guides and the attention to detail put into perfecting your itinerary, your time will be used to its full potential meaning you simply won’t miss a thing.

The coaches depart from and return to the UK on the majority of our tours, with hundreds of pick up/drop off points throughout England, Wales and Scotland, many at no additional cost.

Alternatively you may join at the first night hotel in Europe which needs to be mentioned at the time of booking. There is no reduction in price should you choose to do this.

All timings and information will be on your travel documents which you will receive electronically 10 – 15 days before departure. Luggage labels will be arranged for you at the interchange and will be with your main tour driver or interchange staff.
In case of emergency on the day of departure and for the duration of your holiday, or if your transport (i.e. coach, taxi, minibus) is more than 15 minutes late, please telephone +44 1709 833800. This number will also be shown on your travel documents which you will receive 10 – 15 days before departure.
At the interchange, our trained team takes your luggage from the transfer vehicle to your main tour coach whilst you use the refreshment areas. Then you board your tour coach and travel to Dover or Folkstone, where your coach drives on to the Ferry or Eurotunnel train respectively.

For most continental holidays we use the short sea crossing from Dover to Calais or Eurotunnel from Folkstone to Calais. Please note Channel crossings are subject to change and you must be prepared to travel by either Ferry or Eurotunnel. You cannot choose which crossing you want. This is arranged by our partners, Leger Holidays.

The crossing times are approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by Ferry and you can purchase food and drink. Eurotunnel crossing take approximately 35 minutes with no food or drink facilities.

At the time of booking we always ask for a mobile number to contact you on. We will endeavour to inform you of the arrival time of the coach at the hotel for you to arrange to meet and discuss meeting times for the following day with the coach crew and the rest of the party. The Drivers may leave a message for you at reception or arrange for the hotel to leave a message in your room with regards or a notice with meeting times may also be left in reception. Each of our crew have their own method of communication.

In addition to this, you will have our 24-hour duty number, also shown on your travel documents.

Seats are allocated on your main tour coach, and for a small supplement, you can guarantee front or second row seats. If you prefer to sit a bit further back, choose our central view seats. All pre-bookable seats are subject to availability.

Please note: On some coaches the legroom on front seats may be slightly less than that available on other seats due to the presence of a modesty board in front.

Alternatively, we can take seating requests on your booking. However, requests are not guaranteed. All seat numbers are confirmed on travel documents approximately 10 – 15 days prior to departure.

We guarantee that all passengers on the same booking will be seated together on the main tour coach. Seats on the transfer coaches to and from the interchange are not allocated.

All our coaches and transfer vehicles operate a ‘no smoking on board policy’. The use of electronic cigarettes is strictly forbidden.

In the interest of fellow guests, hot food and ice cream is not allowed on board.

Alcohol can only be taken on board at the discretion of your driver.

Your allowance is one suitcase per person which should weigh no more than 20kg when full. We may refuse to carry larger or heavier cases. Hand luggage should be stored in the overhead racks aboard the coach.

McLachlan European Holidays attracts customers from all over Australia and New Zealand, so for the sake of your flexibility we don’t insist on departure from any particular airport. By listing the tour price without airfares, you have the flexibility to simply join one of our holidays from the UK or Europe. If you need us to arrange your airfare, we have access to some of the most competitive airfares and many of our passengers entrust their entire arrangements to McLachlan European Holidays.

All hotel rooms benefit from private bathroom facilities.

We can certainly request the room type you require, ie twin, double, triple, single. It may take a couple of days to get a reply from the hotel, and longer duration tours with multiple hotels could take longer, however our hotel team will monitor and chase all requests on a daily basis. The places on the coach will be held for you whilst the request is being made.

Most hotels have a lift, if this is an essential, please check at the time of your enquiry.

Yes you can. Some of our hotels do not have ground floor accommodation, but we can certainly request low floor. No requests cannot be guaranteed, so if ground or low floor is essential for you, please ask at the time of your enquiry and we will do our best to discuss with the hotel.

We are unable to guarantee that the hotel will be able to meet your dietary requirements. We find that the majority of European countries do not generally cater for vegetarians and that the meal supplied may well be what everyone else is having minus the meat.

We will of course endeavour to arrange for a vegetarian meal at the hotel. We do however suggest that you advise us of your dietary requests at the time of booking and recommend that you speak to the receptionist on arrival with regard to your request.

We may not know the hotels we will be using on a particular tours, depending on how far in advance you make your booking. However, if we know the hotel(s) we can find out if the hotel can provide a fridge in your room, or if they have the facility to store for you. Please ask at the time of booking.

All optional excursions are at extra cost and well worth a little extra. Information, prices and currency will be advised with your travel documents 10 -15 days before departure, or you can view them on our website, so you can budget before you go.

Most optional excursions are booked with your coach driver or Tour Manager at the beginning of your holiday and operate strictly subject to availability and demand. Due to high demand, some are pre bookable when making your reservation. The running order of included and optional excursions may be altered without prior notice.

You can pay by credit/debit card for optional excursions on our Luxuria and Silver Service tours. If you are travelling by executive coach payment is only accepted in local currency.

Yes, it is a condition of travel with McLachlan European Holidays that each passenger is adequately covered by an appropriate travel insurance policy. We strongly advise taking out Travel Insurance at the time of making your booking to provide full cover. We will require you to send us your insurance details in advance of travelling.
