We head along the Moselle River to the charming wine town of Cochem, dominated by the ancient and mighty Reichsburg Castle, dramatically perched on a hillside overlooking the town, then to Koblenz, the meeting point of the Moselle and Rhine rivers. We continue to Assmannshausen for a four-night stay.
Why not join our optional ‘Exploring Rudesheim’ excursion. We travel by road train to the cellars of Adolf Störzel where there will be the chance to sample some of the local produce. From here we continue to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, where you can see one of the largest collections of self-playing mechanical musical instruments. Your guide will tell you about the various instruments and you will have the chance to listen to many of the instruments and fairground organs play their different tunes.

Today we enjoy time at leisure in Assmannshausen, or why not join us for an optional excursion to the ancient university town of Heidelberg. The city of Heidelberg enjoys a beautiful location on the banks of the River Neckar. It is often referred to as the ‘Romantic Town’ on account of its castle ruins and red sandstone buildings, which dominate the city. Heidelberg castle has been described as the most beautiful castle ruin of Germany, and enjoys a prominent location overlooking the town and from where the views across Heidelberg and the Neckar are astounding.

We head to the vibrant city of Cologne which stands on the banks of the Romantic River Rhine and has many shops and boutiques. Cologne Cathedral, famous around the world, dominates the panorama of the city and is still today the second highest building in Cologne after the telecommunications tower. We continue to Belgium for an overnight stay.
If you are leaving the tour in Europe, you will say farewell to the group after breakfast this morning. If you joined the tour in the UK, today you will return and continue to your original joining point.

If you prefer, then you can join the tour at the hotel. To do this, we will require a copy of your passport for identification purposes and you must advise us at the time of booking.
No reduction will be given if you should choose to do this.
We are unable to guarantee that the hotel will be able to meet your dietary requirements. We find that the majority of European countries do not generally cater for vegetarians and that the meal supplied may well be what everyone else is having minus the meat.
We will of course endeavour to arrange for a vegetarian meal at the hotel. We do however suggest that you advise us of your dietary requests at the time of booking and recommend that you speak to the receptionist on arrival with regard to your request.
You will stay for four nights at the traditional 4-star Hotel Alte Bauernschänke.
Overnight stays in Belgium will be in city-style hotels.
Front row seats can be reserved for $35pp (up to 6 days' duration), $55pp (7 & 8 days' duration) and $60pp (9 days' duration and over) on all European tours. This offer is only available for bookings of two or four persons on the front row and is subject to availability. In addition to this, seats on the second row can be reserved for $18pp (up to 6 days duration), $35pp (7 & 8 days duration) and $42pp (9, 10 and days duration) $50pp (12 days and over). Guaranteed front/second row seats cannot be reserved on transfer journeys to/from the interchange. Children under 15 years cannot occupy a front row seat due to French Law. Central view seats are free.
Please note: On some coaches the legroom on front seats may be slightly less than that available on other seats due to the presence of a modesty board in front.
If your tour is cancelled for any reason and front/second row seats are not available on your new tour, you will be refunded the supplement. No other compensation will be payable.
Alternatively, we can take seating requests on your booking. However, requests are not guaranteed. All seat numbers are confirmed on travel documents approximately 7-10 days prior to departure.
Transfer coaches are routed approximately 2-3 weeks before departure. The route taken depends on where passengers are booked to travel from on any particular date as to which route is taken. If you require further detailed information regarding the route to the port you can contact our Customer Service Department on 1300 811 500 two weeks before you are due to travel.
