The delightful resort of Eastbourne enjoys a glorious location, sheltered by the rolling South Downs, with lines of colourful deckchairs along the promenade – the perfect place to enjoy a short break in the UK. On this 5-day tour, discover the stunning Hever Castle – one of the finest historic properties in Sussex – with its rich and varied past. We also explore the beautiful Herstmonceux Gardens with its woodland trails and picturesque lake, as well as National Trust Sheffield Park Gardens in neighbouring Kent. Admire the scenery from one of the UK's best-preserved heritage steam railways, the Bluebell Railway, as we enjoy a traditional steam train journey through the Sussex countryside.     Explore romantic Hever Castle and its exquisitely presented gardens. Spanning more than 700 years, the history of Hever is rich and varied. It was once home to one of the most powerful families in the country, the Boleyns, including Anne, King Henry VIII's second wife, who became Queen of England for just 1000 days.

    All aboard Bluebell Railway! We will journey into days gone by on one of the UK's best-preserved heritage steam railways, admiring the rolling Sussex countryside en route.

    We then visit National Trust Sheffield Park and Garden. The garden is considered a horticultural work of art, with influences of Capability Brown and Humprhy Repton, and the parkland is a delight to explore.

    Today we visit the gardens and ground of Herstmoneceux Castle. Stroll the themed gardens and woodland trails, as well as the beautiful lake and moat walks, which circle the stunning castle.

    Enjoy the Elizabethan Garden which is the largest and most prestigious, before admiring the pretty Rose Garden or strolling through the unusual Shakespeare Garden, where all the plants are mentioned within the Bard's works.

    If you prefer, then you can join the tour at the hotel. To do this, we will require a copy of your passport for identification purposes and you must advise us at the time of booking.

    We are unable to guarantee that the hotel will be able to meet your dietary requirements. We find that the majority of European countries do not generally cater for vegetarians and that the meal supplied may well be what everyone else is having minus the meat.

    We will of course endeavour to arrange for a vegetarian meal at the hotel. We do however suggest that you advise us of your dietary requests at the time of booking and recommend that you speak to the receptionist on arrival with regard to your request.
