Queen Victoria and Prince Albert bought the Osborne estate in 1845, and they created a private home here away from court life. For over 50 years, Victoria stayed here, from entertaining foreign royalty to finding solace after Albert's death in 1861. Victoria herself passed away at Osborne in 1901, and then King Edward VII gifted the estate to the nation.
Today, the English Heritage manages the property and has carried out much repair and preservation. Many of the rooms are still filled with original furniture and works of arts.
Visit the bird aviary, take up archery or swim a couple of lengths in the indoor pool – there's plenty to do at Warner Norton Grange. Perhaps you'd just like to relax in your chalet, or admire the views of the Solent.
Alternatively, you may wish to join our optional island tour, where we'll take in the pretty scenery and delightful towns that dot this charming isle.
